Zuihoden serves as the mausoleum for Date Masamune, one of the most influential feudal lords from the Edo Period. We recommend visiting Zuihoden on a sunny day. Although it is very beautiful, the many steep stone steps can be difficult for many and for those that are not in good health. Please see below for information in English.

It is about 10 minutes by taxi and 15 minutes 15 minutes by Loople Bus from there. City buses are wheelchair-accessible. The Loople Sendai bus stop is the closest, but the buses are always full due to the small size of the buses. (The bus comes every 15 minutes.)Approximate travel time from the bus stop: 5-minute walk to the entrance from the nearest bus stopBarrier-free Information・Parking is available at the Zuihoden employee parking lot on the Mukaiyama side of the temple. When requesting to a taxi driver, be sure to specify the parking lot to avoid confusion with the general parking lot. (It is near Toyokan, a kappo restaurant.)
・There are20 stone steps from the parking lot.
・Zuihouden is not accessible by regular buses (Loople, City bus/Miyako).
・Even if you take the normal route, the stairs to the ticket booth are very steep and the height of the stone steps is high, even though there are only around 20 steps. Please only proceed up the path if you are in good health and accustomed to climbing.
・Zuiho Temple, which is a separate temple of Zuihoden, is located before the stairs at the top of the hill.
